Fernanda Cohen

Fernanda grew up in Buenos Aires, and moved to New York City in 2000 to study illustration at the School of Visual Arts.

Fernanda sketches mostly in her head as she walks on the streets of New York, rounding up ideas tightly to throw them on a blank piece of paper. She first uses pencil, then inks it up and fills it in with gouache colors.

Fernanda has illustrated the cover of The New York Times Magazine, and her work has been featured in The New Yorker, Target, Travel and Leisure, Continental Airlines, SONY, The Guardian, Telegraph, Cosmopolitan, Herman Miller, W Hotels and Harvard Business Review among others.

Her work has received over 50 awards worldwide, including a gold medal from the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles, first prize of Creative Futures (U.K.) Communication Arts, American Illustration, Society of Illustrators of New York, Lürzer’s Archive (Austria), Applied Arts (Canada), and Curvy (Australia) among others.

She is currently illustrating a children’s book for Scholastic, launching her first line of illustrated porcelain for Buenos Aires-based boutique Reina Batata, and working on a large scale, personal series to be exhibited in New York in 2008.
